No Michael Jackson Hologram Concert August 29th

Category: UncategorizedSeven @ 7:56 pm

Apparently there has been at least one announcement and many rumors about a possible MJ Hologram Concert on August 29th, 2012. The MJ Estate however denies that any such concert is being planned at this time. The MJ OnlineTeam today tweeted the following:

Recently, there was an item on an international Pepsi affiliate’s social media page regarding a “Michael Jackson Hologram Concert.” This item is not accurate and there are no such plans in place by Pepsi, the Estate of Michael Jackson or anyone else.

We regret any confusion that may have been caused in the MJ fan community by this incorrect post, which has been removed.

Filmmaker Spike Lee is currently in the final stages of post-production of a Michael Jackson documentary that focuses on the King of Pop’s album Bad and ensuing world tour.

The film, which syncs up nicely with the album’s 25th anniversary, features 40 interviews done by Lee with Jackson’s confidants, choreographers, musicians and other collaborators. Lee also interviewed contemporary stars from Kanye West to Sheryl Crow (a backup singer on the Bad tour) about the album’s lasting influence.

“I’m more than just a huge fan of Michael Jackson,” said Lee in a statement. “And having the chance to actually know him and work with him, I deeply care about his legacy.”

The doc looks to tell the story of the “coming of age” project that led to a global tour that broke all sorts of records, as well as the revolutionary short films/music videos the album spawned, like the one for the title track directed by Martin Scorsese.

“Spike Lee’s genius as a storyteller combined with his passion and first-hand appreciation of Michael’s artistry makes him the logical filmmaker to tell the story of ‘Bad,'” commented John Branca and John McLain, co-executors of the estate of Michael Jackson. “We are thrilled to be working with him on this unique project.”

Back in 2009, Lee directed the clip for Jackson’s posthumous track “This Is It,” which used archival footage of Jackson mixed with his most unforgettable moments and a montage of fan tributes. The documentary will accompany the September 18th release of Bad 25, a box set celebrating the 25th anniversary of the record, which will feature an unreleased performance at Wembley Stadium in London on July 16th, 1988. No official release date for the documentary, however, has been announced.

“With this ‘Bad’ project I was able to uncover just what made this such a huge, important coming of age in his career,” added Lee. “And unearth compelling stories surrounding the making of the album, the long awaited follow-up to Thriller – the best-selling album of all time – the short films and the tour that may have never seen the light of day.”

Here’s a clip from the upcoming documentary:

_ _ _

There are certain legitimate confidants of Michael’s that I know they did not and would not interview for this documentary. And, it’s hardly happenstance that its release coincides with the BAD25 promotion. It’s bound to a very interesting and historic piece. Spike Lee’s work is consistently phenomenal and rightfully well-respected. I can’t think of anyone else who would fit the bill when it comes to making this documentary. There isn’t much the estate has done since Michael’s death that interests me but this documentary does. It’s something that by all rights should have been done long ago, when he was alive and could add his own input. I’ll be looking forward to it.  -Seven

Sunflowers for Michael is One Year Old Today!

Sunflowers for Michael

Sunflowers for Michael

Dear fan-mily,

It was one year ago today that Sunflowers for Michael was born. After Lisa-Marie Presley posted a message on her MySpace page that Michael’s resting place seemed a little bare and that he liked Sunflowers, Sandy came up with an idea and called Forest Lawn Flower Shop. She found out that two huge arrangements of Sunflowers and other types of flowers could be placed next to Michael each week for around $200 – 250 per week.

So she did some figuring and asked: “what if we could get 160 fans to donate just $5 per month, or 40 fans to donate just $5 per week so Michael could have fresh flowers near him each week from his fans?  After all, Michael has millions of fans all over the world who, while they could not afford a personal bouquet for Michael each week, might love to contribute to something like this!

So, Sandy set up a Paypal account for this purpose (sandy@sunflowersformichael.net) and began collecting donations after the program was introduced on this site one  year ago today.  Since then, every week, Michael has received two large arrangements of beautiful, fresh flowers from his fans all over the world along with beautiful, custom-made cards that Sandy creates from the messages, drawings, photos, and poems that fans send to her for Michael.

We even have regular artists and writers who have contributed custom-drawn artwork and beautifully-written poetry each week since the program’s inception.  Eliza Lo does beautiful drawings of Michael whose likeness to him is stunning. J. Michelle Gold writes lovely poetry each week to go with the arrangements, and she writes special editions for holidays and special occasions. You can see the one she wrote for this occasion below. And, Christine Wallden creates warm and whimsical artwork for each week’s delivery and for special occasions. And not least, Michael’s fans all over the world constantly leave him sweet messages of love through Sandy.

Without Sandy, and without Michael’s fan-mily, and without all those loving messages, artwork and poems, this program would not have lasted an entire year. Though Sandy dreamed it up and I launched it from here, it’s really everyone’s project and we’re so grateful for all the love, beauty, and support you’ve all given to this program in the past year. Michael surely knows he is very loved and that we’ll never ever forget him because he lives in our hearts forever.

Photos of the first ten ‘Sunflowers for Michael‘ deliveries were posted here.  After that, photos of all deliveries are posted in the ‘Sunflowers for Michael‘ group on Facebook.  Since today is Sunflowers for Michael’s Anniversary though, I’ll share a few photos of today’s Anniversary delivery right here:
