Thank you so much Seven, for providing the interview with Charles. Frightening isn’t it, the utter crap they put that poor man through!! You read about it, but when you actually hear it spoken aloud via an intelligent interview, I’m telling you – I am spitting nails, I’m so angry!! I remember Thomas Mesereau stated after the trial, that he advised Michael to seriously consider a case of Malicious Prosecution against Sneddon, but for whatever reason Michael did not. I always felt he probably just wanted to put it behind him and was probably so drained by the experience that he just decided against it. Who could blame him. But I wish somebody could get that bastard now. Please excuse my language, but poor Michael – a lamb to the slaughter. Thank you again for making the interview available.

You know after what Michael had been dragged through, he probably couldn’t stomach any more legal battles at that time but he certainly DID have a good case for Malicious Prosecution against Sneddon. Sneddon had been after Michael with a rabid vengeance since 1994 or so, at least.
As for the yellow media, it’s too bad we’ve no media integrity laws in this country that prevent media from just destroying anyone they choose, in any way they choose, with complete lies for ratings and profit.
And I have NEVER, EVER seen anyone as abused and persecuted – no CRUCIFIED – by the media as Michael Jackson. NO ONE.
And the Ignorami swallow all that copy and paste innuendo, lies, and utter crap completely whole and without question, never bothering to check for facts themselves, either.
It’s so incredibly immoral, unjust, and shameful. Thank Heavens for those like Mr. Thomson, who have the integrity to get out there and tell the TRUTH amidst all the lies and bullsh*t.

The yellow media continually lie, take things out of context, twist words and facts, while completely leaving OUT other facts, in order to CREATE a salacious story that will garner them the most ratings and get them the most MONEY. The Ignorami watch, listen, buy and believe it unquestioningly. And the yellow media subsequently try their damnedest to squelch any efforts to expose those lies.

Seven—Again thanks for the link. I listened to Charles Thomson’s interview on KPFA; an articulate discussion on media bias.
If anyone doubts the prevalence of the kind of lazy cut-and-paste journalism Charles spoke of, here’s a bit of food for thought: Ian Halperin’s fabricated claims about Jackson have been repeated not just on blogs and in tabloids, but in supposedly credible mainstream media.
In the Wikipedia entry on Halperin, it’s noted that not only is he the source for stories in The Sun (British tabloid) and In Touch Weekly (Hollywood gossip rag), but also that he’s contributed to 60 Minutes II.
My own research shows that his claims were also repeated in a GQ article by John Jeremiah Sullivan (this is the same magazine that ran the only truly investigative article I’ve found on the first molestation charges, “Was Michael Jackson Framed?” by Mary Fisher–which makes Sullivan’s lapse seem worse to me.)
Though Sullivan said Halperin’s allegations were suspect, he said they couldn’t be dismissed and then proceeded to repeat them—without any attribution, fact checking or credible sources other than what Halperin had offered up in his bogus book.
If anyone wonders why this happens, the first sentence of Halperin’s Wikipedia entry holds the key: “Ian Halperin is a Canadian investigative journalist and writer from Montreal, Quebec, whose 2009 book, ‘Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson’ was a number one best seller on the New York Times list on July 24, 2009.”
Why do supposed journalists dole out salacious gossip instead of fact? Because people eat it up and make you rich.
I write these posts to your site and others in the hope that the Internet can become a forum for truth instead of lies and misrepresentations. There is no agency or courtroom that can stop this; only we can.

HAMMER, meet NAIL. You said it all right there, TLS.
MJ knew this too, which is why he kept admonishing us all to not listen to the crap and to be intelligent about finding out facts before believing what you hear, see or read and not to judge before looking more deeply first.
Not only do “journalists” not do even the slightest bit of most basic fact-checking as Charles said, most people who see, hear, and read the stuff they put out there don’t check the facts either before making judgements.
This results in a very dangerous ignorance – very dangerous to our society and maybe even to one of US one day. Anyone can be accused or alleged to be anything or to have done anything (by the media) and that puts them in the unfortunate position of having to prove a negative – ie: that they did NOT do something or that they are NOT something they have been accused of being. This type of ‘publicity’ for profit can destroy lives and it is immoral and grossly unjust. WE are the key to stopping it. People need to learn to discern, fact-check and think for themselves instead of just believing whatever they read, see or hear on television or in tabloids or in a magazine or even on a website like TMZ or radaronline or whatever.

Absolutely great, fantastic.
I wholly concur with everything everyone has said here. As an ex-news reporter, I have always said that people should never automatically believe what they read in the newspapers; and should ‘read between the lines’, ‘look beneath the surface.’
Let’s just hope the right people listened to this interview and will now take the right action to spread the word, spread the truth which I have always believed about Michael Jackson, deep in my heart.
Then perhaps they will cleanse their dark souls, and his can rest in peace.

thank you Charles Thompson for your dedication into getting the truth out there about MJ….what Michael endured is absolute disgrace to any human being,the media and so called reporters were out to get him…..MJ was forced to leave his country because of all the false accusations, all because of his love for children and the planet…he was found not guilty by the jurors and still the media will not speak about the truth of the 2005 trial…..I have always believed in michael jackson and I STILL DO

A message to the ABC which is a subsidiary of the Disney Corporation: Ditch sleazy Bashir and hire Mr Charles Thompson in his place. Your viewers will love you for it. They will buy your sponsors’ products and you will finally gain back some respect for having a journalist anchor who has integrity, decency and courage to speak the truth as it is.

TLS, and Seven on Halperin’s book: did you read the part where he claims he met Michael and says Michael stared into his “blue eyes” intensely and Halperin more or less claims that Michael almost hit on him? Puke, vomit, in his dreams !! BTW, I read it at my library. Wanted to find out how come he claimed MJ was gay. Of course no witnesses to produce because he claims he has to protect them. How convenient. It’s all made up with nothing credible.
