UPDATE: Part III Now Available – August 2012 Interview with Reverent June Juliet Gatlin (MJ’s spiritual advisor) for Vanity Fair

Category: Friends,Interviews,VideosSeven @ 10:29 pm

Reverent June Gatlin (Michael’s spiritual advisor) has allowed me to share this interview, done with journalist Mark Seal of Vanity Fair in August 2012. I don’t read that magazine so am unaware whether any article resulting from this interview was ever published.

Rev. Gatlin describes how the title “This Is It” was given to her as a title of Michael’s “Book of Life” which she discussed with him before the shows / tour of the same name was ever conceived. She also talks about how exhausted Michael seemed to be and says that she didn’t believe he could do the 50 shows they signed him for. She discusses how he mistrusted Tohme Tohme along with many others around him and how he wanted everything new around him – that he was changing everything and in the process of taking complete charge of his life. Michael, she says, was puzzled as to why Jermaine would introduce him to Tohme and she expresses surprise (like many of us did) as to why Tohme jumped into the media spotlight after Michael’s death claiming to (still) be his manager even after he was clearly let go.

In Part II, she breaks down when talking about how she knew she needed to get to him on the morning of his death, but was unable to make it. I’ll write no more about the interview here except to say it’s worth a listen. Thank you Rev. June Gatlin for sharing this with us! As much as journalists tend to edit/twist/leave out facts, particularly where Michael Jackson is concerned, it was probably a good idea to record it!

  2. Fernanda says:

What surprise, Seven! Welcome back… I always appreciated your hard work about truth and Justice for Michael… Thanks! Lets we see what she had to say…

Thank you Seven for sharing this deeply moving interview, and yes, welcome back. And thank you Reverent June Gatlin for providing the videos as well as for being there for Michael Jackson during the challenging and blessed times he needed you the most. Now I know why I felt so strongly inclined to include a discussion of Michael Jackson in the “Text and Meaning” article that will post either Sunday or Monday.

I don’t envy Rev. Gatlin’s task in this interview because it’s very difficult for a spiritual advisor as intuitive as she is to maintain linear focused concentration while discussing someone to whom she was so intensely spiritually connected as Michael Jackson. She wants to be as forthcoming as possible to set crooked records straight but at the same time respect the sacred trust between her and Michael. It is clear as she speaks that she is feeling the pull of spiritual revelation and close at times to entering a trance. It’s not difficult to see why she and Jackson would have gravitated toward each other because they both possess spiritual sensitivity of a very fine and rare nature. It is, I would offer, well that her intuitive gifts placed her in a deep sleep during Michael Jackson’s transition because the shock of it could very well have overwhelmed her much more than it did and caused the kind of damage that can be extremely difficult to recover from.

    Blessings & Gratitude,
    Aberjhani

Oh, my God! I’m so glad you’re back!

  5. Seven says:

Thank you Ara. I never “left”. Just moved on in life and have other things that take up a majority of my time so don’t post too regularly anymore.

I understand what Rev. June is saying about the morning of June 25 when her body “became” Michael and she felt the heaviness and inability to move. When a very dear friend of mine died, my experience was similar but that person was completely finished her journey, so the feeling we shared was utter peace and silence. She was done, never to return. So grateful to Rev. June for sharing her feelings and insights. This interview was difficult for her.

    God bless you Rev. June

I believe Michael trusted Reverend June.. so I will too. How difficult it must be to “see” someone’s
death approaching and know that you cannot prevent it. As for her experience on the morning of June 25th.. let’s hope that it meant that Michael knew someone was by his side as he left us. Subsequently there were things reported in the AEG trial that suggested that Michael knew his time was near too.

Thankyou Seven for posting this.It has certainly given me food for thought.

I do not know if anyone else has heard, but I am sure by now that everyone knows that a close friend of Michael’s passed away on yesterday evening. Gospel great Andre Crouch who along with his twin sister worked with MJ on various projects had been on life-support since Tuesday after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Keep his sister and her family along with other relatives in your thoughts at this time.

  14. Reverent Rev. June Juliet Gatlin says:

    Dear Journalist-Author Seven,
Thank You for posting, sharing My Vanity Fair interview. I film/record every interview including those which do not involve Hon. Michael Jackson. I record/film specifically for reason of ethics and integrity. Often than not, once interview is complete, made public, the interviewee is shocked and amazed, not recognizing a word. When seekers are searching for raging sensationalism, negative messiness and cannot, do not acquire, well some will create; they will manufacture at expense of person(s); therefore, it is important to have record for personal security. Sometimes it is necessary in case what is written and/or filmed, edited is nothing like the original; actually imperative if (one) has to personally refute.
~ It is more than a notion when I’ve been told and shown so much nastiness stemming from many ill noted comments and negative opinions.
I am seeing Your Readers comments. Respect to them; it is obvious they missed Your Presence and Your #acknowledgementandappreciation re Hon. Michael Jackson.
Blessings Abundantly Deserved to You, all Whom You Honor with Love <3
