“I also saw what a beautiful father he was. He was a beautiful human being. He was music. Period.”

The name of the song is ‘Another Day‘ and it appears to be the same verse from an another Lenny Kravitz song called “Storm”.   However, ‘Another Day‘ is the version of the song that Lenny Kravitz recorded with Michael. On the day Michael so abruptly departed, Lenny talked about working with Michael on this song:

… the truth of the matter is he was a boy that God blessed with the most angelic voice.

… I got to work with Michael on a track that has not been released and it was the most amazing experience I’ve had in the studio. He was funny. Very funny and we laughed the whole time. I also saw what a beautiful father he was. He was a beautiful human being.

He was the first live performer I ever saw. I got to see him at Madison Square Garden when I was eight. If not for him, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing. He gave me joy as a child and showed me the way to go. He was music. Period.

May you rest in peace sweet Michael. You gave us all you had to give. Lenny.

The song was apparently co-written by Lenny Kravitz for the Invincible album. It failed to make the cut so Lenny renamed and recorded it as ‘Storm’ for his 2004 album, ‘Baptism’. On January 2nd, 2010 a clip of the “Another Day‘ version of this song with Michael’s vocals began circulating around the internet. On his Facebook page, Lenny explains that he does not know how the clip was leaked and again remembers how much he loved working with Michael on the song. Here is the clip below, with Michael’s beautiful voice. Release of the full song is expected at a later time, says Lenny however Sony has removed all clips from YouTube so the link below may not work:

Thanks. I listened to the original. MJ took the song to an entirely new level, light years away.
I love the way he could transform rap and make it part of the rhythm in his work. He could hear the music behind each rap phrase and make it part of a beautiful whole.

I’m glad I got to hear the song a few times before they yanked it from your link. Yours was the longest version I could find. I did love the animated one, with the planets and the head with stars coming out of the eyes. Thanks again.

I hope Sony just releases the whole thing once they realize they can’t ‘put the toothpaste back in the tube’ so to speak. They really should.

[…] Notice how quickly Sony YANKED the Lenny Kravitz/Michael Jackson song “Another Day” off …? This is likely because Sony is also Kravitz’ record label, but it could also be because (as quoted above) Sony still gets 50% of the royalties from MJ’s songs too (MiJac). By the time all is said and done, my bet is that they will own it and get 100% of the royalties, something Michael Jackson himself had hoped for – (100%) ownership/royalties – but the exact date that was to happen seemed to be a moving target for Michael due to some shell games Sony was playing with the reversion dates. I suspect there will be copious diddling with that as well between the estate/Sony. Further investigation is needed into this. […]

[…] how quickly $ony swatted the song Michael did with Lenny Kravitz back into oblivion when it was leaked on YouTube?  The song was called ‘Another Day‘ […]
