Seth Riggs, Michael’s Voice Coach for Three Decades, Remembers Michael Jackson

Category: Family,Friends,Lyrics,VideosSeven @ 12:08 pm

He had a great heart. He went everywhere that somebody was in trouble. He went and shelled out money to buy what they needed or to fix their lives… There are a lot of things people don’t understand about Michael. He would never, NEVER upset a child in any way.

-Seth Riggs, Michael’s vocal coach

Also, Lisa-Marie Presley mentioned a song by Chris Cornell called ‘Sunshower‘ on her MySpace page June 24th, 2010. If you remember, it was Lisa-Marie’s comments that led to the initiation of the ‘Sunflowers for Michael‘ Program. Lisa-Marie urged fans to surround Michael with a ‘Sunshower‘, and so they have. Lisa-Marie says this song says more than she could herself.

Sunshower, by Chris Cornell

Dark as roses, fine as sand
Feel your healing and your sting again
I hear you laughing and my soul is saved
On forgotten graves you cry

Crawl like ivy up my spine
Through my nerves and into my eyes
Cuts like anguish
Or recollections of better days gone by

But it’s all right
When you’re caught in pain
And you feel the rain come down
It’s all right
When you find your way
Then you see it disappear
It’s all right
Though your garden’s grey
I know all your graces
Someday will flower
In the sweet sunshower

Eyes like oceans so far away
A feather trail to a better way
Worried mornings turn into days
Then into worried nights

But it’s all right
When you’re all in pain
And you feel the rain come down
Oh it’s all right
When you find your way
Then you see it disappear
Oh it’s all right
Though your garden’s grey
I know all your graces
Someday will flower
Oh in the sweet sunshower
Oh in the sweet sunshower
In the sweet sunshower

I know all your graces
Someday will flower
In the sweet sunshower
And it’s all right
All you’ll be you are today
Are today
It’s all right
All you’ll be you are today
Are today………

  1. Michelle says:

I am truly touched by Seth Riggs’ words, and his last sentance made me cry. How I wish more people who knew Michael personally would tell all the little stories that allow us to see more of the real Michael. He will forever be my favorite “Peter Pan”

  2. Saskia says:

This got me all emotional. Beautifully told by Seth, who had tears in his eyes himself.

There are so many people now telling these stories on what a wonderfull person Michael really was. ANd ofcourse we’ve all known that for years. But it makes me so mad that at the press, who only told lies.

  3. Michelle says:

This makes me get a little teary-eyed. Seth truly saw that Michael was a wonderful, innocent, hard-working man all his life while he trained Michael for his singing. His words are beautiful!!

  4. David says:

Did you notice how at the 5:50 mark, he mentions how after MJ was acquitted, Evan Chandler committed suicide after Jordie confessed that it wasn’t true. I think he made a mistake and mixed up the Chandlers and the Arvizos, because obviously the Chandlers never went to trial. And even if Jordie has recanted privately, as we all know he hasn’t recanted publicly, and unfortunately we’ll never know exactly why Evan committed suicide. Katherine Jackson and Jermaine Jackson have made similar statements in the past as well.

Also, here is the video from Hard Copy where they talk about MJ attending the funeral of the Craig Fleming, whose mother threw him off of a bridge in 1995. He mentioned it at the 4:25 mark.

It’s it great to see an MJ story on Hard Copy that DOESN’T involve them paying one of his former employees (like Blanca Francia) to lie, or investigating some manufactured “victim” (like the kid from Canada)? LOL!

Thank you for sharing that Seven….I knew as soon as I saw Seth’s name, that it would be heartbreaking….Seth was making me cry. I have some of his sessions on mp3…..they’re hauntingly beautiful….I never knew MJ had a monkey in 1978..so Seth has known MJ longer than Karen Faye and Michael Bush..

  6. Jane Heider says:

    Dear Mr. Riggs,
thank you so very much, for sharing your memories about Mr. Michael Jackson. You can see and hear, how much you admired, loved and respected him. My prayers and thoughts go out to you, in these difficult times.
    All My Love and Admiration….respectfully
    Jane Heider

  7. emma says:

Thank you for this beautiful reminiscence about Michael.

  8. sue says:

    Very moving….
    Thanks for posting Seven.

  9. Leticia says:

This was so moving…impossible no cry! Seth Riggs had tears in his eyes all the time and he was so touched that we can feel exactly like him. Wonderful Michael Jackson!
    Thanks for sharing this.

  10. Jeanne says:

I thankyou so very much for this interview with Seth . Many people should see this because this is someone who knew Michael personally and worked with him often . I think people in the world that do not know Michael and still make judgements based on past media blurts and lies are speaking from pure ignorance. They are the ones we need to invite to learn the truth . In fact many people I know are doing this very thing . Talking about Michael and they carry with them a book of information and web site listings such as yours and when we speak of Michael and recieve negative response we imediately show them evidence of who Michael Jackson really is to those who will listen. Just the other day , this lady in my friends office who had a negative opinion , upon learning the right information , turned around, and is now speaking to people about Michael and his humanitarian work and how we all can change the way the world is right now . This lady said ,,, I did not know ,, I had no idea he had done so much ,, I only knew what I heard . And that is the way it is with most people . They only know what they hear. It is up to us who know to let them hear the truth !!

  11. BG says:

Thank you Seven. You are truly a Soldier of Love. It was wonderful to see and hear Seth Riggs. The media and others have fed the public lies for decades so it’s no wonder people get confused about what is truth and what is a lie – “the lie becomes the truth.” Michael was so right.

  12. star says:

    I am deeply touched……

Thank you for sharing your memory of Michael…

    I love Michael forever!

  13. Rhia says:

Maybe Seth Riggs does know that Jordan Chandler acknowledged his lie. Jordan Chandler’s girlfriend, Sonnet Simmons, is a singer and she has worked with Seth Riggs.

But also it is known that Jordan privately denies that he was molested.

  14. Silvily says:

This was a beautiful remembrance – this is what should be aired on tv – to let people know who Michael really was. I wish similar loving stories could be compiled and aired all together.

  15. Seven says:

I’d love to have a “MJLC” (Michael Jackson Legacy Channnel) dedicated to Michael which would feature stories like these and others on this site, along with interviews with those who met and worked with Michael over the years, such as Seth, sound engineers, directors, dancers, singers, as well as fans and family, and special segments or an entire documentary on Michael’s humanitarian legacy – which is as storied and long as his creative one. We’re discussing in comments in another post “A Modern-Day Stoning”

On this channel, NO negativity or tabloid crap would be allowed. It would be All Michael All the Time, All Positive and All Truth from people who knew and loved Michael and whose lives were touched by him.

  16. klk says:

My god Seth how can you deal with Jordan Chandler and his girlfriend after what he did to Michael??
