Many people think that temperature in winter is relatively low, which greatly affects materials and is not suitable for finishing. In fact, as long as you get hang of a few details, winter decorating is easy. You must pay attention to these points, otherwise you will have to dismantle and reinstall.
1. Pay attention to waterproofness when transporting materials
In winter, climate is drier, resulting in less wood moisture. When transporting materials in rainy and snowy weather, it is necessary to prevent wood from getting wet with snow water. All decorative panels should be laid flat and not vertical to prevent panels from cracking or warping.
2. There should be gaps in wooden floor
Wooden materials are prone to thermal expansion and contraction. In winter, temperature is low and floor shrinks. Therefore, for laying wooden floors, a gap of 2 mm should be left. For wooden furniture, you can leave 0.1 mm for butt joint so that furniture does not become tight when expanded.
3. Soak tiles in water before laying
Be sure to dampen tile with water before laying, so that there are no cavities and fallout later. In addition, there is a large temperature difference between indoor and outdoor temperature in winter, so you must wait until you adapt to indoor temperature before laying to avoid gouging and falling after construction. Particular attention should be paid to timely processing of joints after laying wall and floor tiles.
4. Putty cannot be scraped off too thick
Walls and ceilings need to be puttyed as air is relatively dry in winter and rate of water loss is relatively high. Therefore, putty should not be applied too thick, otherwise it will easily cause bumps, gouges, cracks and other conditions on wall surface.
5. Pay attention to fire safety
It is dry and dry in winter, there is a lot of wood materials and dust on construction site. So pay attention to fire prevention and it is best to have a fire extinguisher ready on site in case of an emergency.
6. Properly increase indoor humidity after completion
Since air is relatively dry in winter, after finishing house, you can put a bowl of clean water in each room. In this way, humidity in room can be increased accordingly and cracks in walls and furniture due to dry air can be avoided.
