Vienna Imperial Hotel in Austria

Vienna Imperial Hotel in Austria

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

It was the third concert Michael gave in Vienna in 1997 when he stayed at the Vienna Imperial Hotel . The first concert he gave there was the Bad Tour in 1988. The second was the Dangerous Tour in 1992 when he stayed at the Vienna Marriott.

Below is a YouTube video of when Michael arrived at this hotel 1997 for the HIStory Tour. It’s bad quality, but interesting to see with fans singing ‘We Are The World‘, and Michael, always sweet, masked, and so polite – and always with the little ones following him!

{ Thanks to my Austrian friend Brigitte, who lives just ’round the corner from the Vienna Imperial hotel, for the photo of the hotel, and to “bebebebovo” for the video of Michael’s arrival at the hotel in 1997! -Seven }

thank you for sharing this facts that Michael was a prophet in the music world. He was a light in the darkness. Inspiration for weary hearts from cruel world. Our hearts will melt in his beautiful sentences and songs.

  2. Manu says:

Michael stayed at the Vienna Marriott in 1992.

  3. Seven says:

Sumi, you are correct. I have corrected the information in my post then!

My friend says that Michael visited Vienna 4 times:

    1988 – Concert Bad Tour
    1992 – Concert Dangerous 26 August 1992
    1997 – Concert HIStory Tour 2 July 1997
1998 – March 1998, he came back for few days, no concert just private and for shopping

So given these dates, he must have written ‘Earth Song‘ at a hotel in Vienna in 1992 since it was on the HIStory album in 1995.

But then the question is, did he write ‘Earth Song‘ at THIS hotel? (The Vienna Imperial)? What hotel did Michael stay at in 1992 when he was there, if not this one? Does anyone know?

Thanks again Seven, that was lovely. I especially adored when he was introducing the children to each other, and that jacket! His other military coat when he came back out was splendid too, it’s always amazing to see how calm he is, amidst a storm (of fans).

  5. Sumi says:

Sorry, I love your site, but just for the record: There must be a mistake with the date. The Earth Song was on Michael’s HIStory album which was released in 1995, so he cannot have written it in 1997. Perhaps it was on an earlier visit in Vienna.

  6. Brigitte says:

Thank you so much Seven. This song carries a very important message for us. Take care of mother earth and people who live on it. And remember there’s a place in your heart and I know that it is Love. Love you Seven ♥ Brigitte from Vienna/Austria

  7. Seven says:

Thank you LuvUAngel for teaching these precious kids (our future!) what is important in this world and that Love and kindness and compassion matters!

Thank you Seven. I have just prepared a poster based on this image and story and “Earth Song” lyrics and
other images. I’m going to hang it up in the classroom. Earth Day is next week. And Michael knew and he
was determined to send out the message on a massive scale with his next tour, how desperately the planet
    needs our love.
By the way, thank you for your encouragement about my efforts to make a difference as a teacher. I did my
presentation today about “Violence in Words”… against tabloid abuse and in honor of Michael and Ryan
White. Now at least 75 youngsters from this part of the world know who Ryan White was and may have been
inspired to think about our Michael in a different light. Some of the kids were even crying. It is so
important to me to do my part, no matter how small it is, to honor our Michael and what he stood for.
If all of us who love him and respect him raise our voices, we can make a difference. Luvuangel
with all my heart, forever. Thank you, Seven.

I think its amazing how a person as big and huge of a star cared about the things he cared about. He is the most well known star in the world and can have anything he wants and have the money to get it, but he chose to give it away and try to help the less fortunate. I am just amazed at the values and character of a man with such a high status as Michael is. He truely cared about the planet and the needs of others. His love was truly unconditional.

  10. Seven says:

It is very strange and you know JUST before I came here to check comments on the site, I was reading about this! The planet is trying to tell us – but no one is listening, at least not enough. People are in denial. They think money is the most important thing. There will come a point when money will be useless to fix what’s wrong or help many things. People need to get their priorities in order. We all have to do our part and FIGHT and urge the gov’ts to do the same but don’t rely on THEM to do it.

  11. Susan says:

Seven, isn’t it strange the number of earthquakes in the last couple of months – Haiti, Chile, California and now China. Maybe it is just the cycle of the way of the Earth, but it certainly gives you pause to think. Once again, Michael was in the forefront of trying to bring attention to what has now become one of the most serious aspects of our lives today – the destruction of our planet. I really believe Michael was a prophet sent to us. He had a larger platform to reach the masses than any politician. His music and lyrics touch your soul, make you think; and that is dangerous to a lot of people.
